Flipside Memphis – Dach’s Kendo & Iaido

Sensei Harry Dach holds a 5th degree black belt in Iaido (the first non-Asian to achieve this rank) and a 4th degree black belt in Kendo. When he started training in Japan, at the age of 25, his Sensei told him "Even an untrained monkey wielding a sword can kill you." That being said, practitioners of Kendo and Iaido relentlessly train for speed, perfection of technique, and cunning strategy.

Dach feels that he has an obligation to help his students grow in Kendo and Iaido, who range from doctors, to mechanics, to high schoolers. According to Dach, applying lessons from martial arts to everyday activities, such as work or school, can lead to a happier, healthier, and successful lifestyle.
